Meghan Markle Faces Brutal Royal Fan Revolt on Security Review — Poll

A new reader poll has delivered a blunt verdict on the security review surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The numbers leave little room for doubt, and readers had plenty to say about the Sussexes’ security concerns, and their comments were just as pointed.

Meghan Markle faces near total rejection on security review by royal fans, per poll

In a recent poll, the Daily Express asked its readers a simple question: “Should Meghan Markle be granted her own security review?” A total of 30,598 votes were cast. According to the outlet, 98% said no, while only 2% said yes.

The poll followed reports that the Duchess of Sussex will receive her own assessment of potential threats. The outlet reports that Ravec, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, has written to Prince Harry. The letter informed him that his situation was discussed at a meeting last week.

The security review for Meghan is expected to be the first of its kind since she and Harry moved to the United States in 2020. Their return to Britain with their two children has renewed attention on the couple’s arrangements. The children’s school run is reportedly among the issues under consideration.

Readers were quick to respond. One of their top comments was, “What for? She isn’t a royal, she will come under her husband’s umbrella!” Another, who claimed to have studied constitutional law, wrote, “I did constitutional law and can guarantee you there IS NO REVIEW for Markle.”

A further commenter questioned the need for extra protection on the school run. They said the security team had already checked out the school over the summer. Another reader questioned the couple’s decision to return to Britain, writing, “Funny she left the UK claiming she wanted ‘privacy.'”

The reactions reflect a wider debate over whether Meghan and Harry should receive publicly funded security after stepping back as working members of the Royal Family and moving abroad. Notably, security has long been a source of tension for the Sussexes, particularly Harry. He has previously challenged decisions over his publicly funded protection when in Britain.
