Princess Diana’s Brother Faces New Demand Over Prince Harry’s Security — Report

Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, has reportedly received a new demand regarding Prince Harry’s security. The development comes as his new memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” is officially released today. In the book, Spencer draws parallels between the media scrutiny faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the intense attention surrounding his late sister in the years leading up to her death.

Royal expert urges Princess Diana’s brother to ‘fund’ Prince Harry’s security

Earl Spencer is facing calls to “fund” Prince Harry’s security in a sharp backlash after his book release. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield criticized Spencer’s memoir as profiting from his late sister, arguing that if he is truly concerned about his nephew’s safety, he should use his book earnings to pay for it himself.

Speaking to Talk TV, the monarchy expert said that if the Althorp estate owner is “making millions and millions of dollars off your dead sister” then the “least you can do is fund Harry’s security.”

During his BBC appearance, the 9th Earl Spencer had stated, “I would say that I personally worry about the fifth in line to the throne who’s served in the military not having any police protection.”

He added, “From a security aspect, as an uncle who’s seen his sister die in very, very preventable circumstances, I would veer towards protection.”

The Earl further noted that the tabloid treatment of Princess Diana, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, could be “really, really unpleasant.” He said it was therefore “beholden on people” to learn from the past.

As for developments in the Sussexes’ security bid, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) met last week following the family’s return to the UK. The committee will now decide whether they qualify for state-funded protection.

It follows the couple’s decision to change Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s school after just two days over security fears. Heavy traffic reportedly separated their vehicles, making the daily commute unmanageable for their private security detail.
