With the Avengers: Secret Wars coming later next year, a new rumor has offered some details about how Marvel Studios could handle its huge cast. The upcoming movie is expected to bring together superheroes from across the MCU and several other Marvel franchises.
According to scooper James Mack, Avengers: Secret Wars will give plenty of attention to its female superheroes while also keeping its biggest male characters at the center of the story. According to him, Marvel wants to give several female heroes substantial roles without shifting focus away from the males, who remain central to the main conflict.
“Many female heroes will have plenty of spotlight, while male heroes who are literally THE BIG HEROES will also get major focus,” Mack recently tweeted.
The rumor comes as fans continue to speculate about which Marvel veterans could return for the Multiverse Saga finale. Names such as Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and Jessica Alba are speculated to be involved in possible legacy appearances.
Although there is no confirmation that any of them will return.
Who has been confirmed for the Avengers: Secret Wars cast so far?
Robert Downey Jr. will lead the cast as Doctor Doom, marking his return to the MCU after playing Tony Stark / Iron Man for more than a decade. This time, however, he will be playing one of Marvel’s biggest villains.
The Fantastic Four are also confirmed to appear. Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing.
Anthony Mackie will return as Captain America, while A Quiet Place star Noah Jupe has joined the movie in an undisclosed role. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the film, which is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.
With more characters expected to join the massive crossover, Marvel Studios has yet to reveal exactly how the ensemble will be divided across the story.
