A recent Spider-Man rumor involving a major deal between Sony and Tom Holland has been debunked. Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the MCU, recently appeared in Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
According to the latest update from WurldOnFilm on X, Holland reportedly entered into a 10-movie contract with Sony. This means that the Odyssey star would have been playing Marvel’s friendly neighborhood superhero until 2040, resulting in 24 years of portraying Peter Parker. The update also stated that the reported deal with Sony consists of four solo movies and six appearances in other MCU movies.
However, all of these reports were credited to popular scooper Daniel Richtman. Immediately after the post was made public, the scooper reposted the tweet and clarified that the allegations were false. @DanielRPK’s post read, “I didn’t say that.” Later, fans chimed in, saying the rumor was false and that Sony usually offers project-specific contracts for Spider-Man movies.
MCU fans expect Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to return in Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel has released the cast for their upcoming big project, Avengers: Doomsday, and it does not feature Tom Holland’s name. The Brand New Day post-credits scene hinted at Spider-Man going into outer space, as the Spidey-Tracker app showed his location in the cosmos. While rumors are swirling about the web-slinger’s possible return in Avengers: Doomsday, there’s still no official confirmation that he’s coming back for the MCU’s upcoming project.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day closed with a title card promising that “Spider-Man Will Return”. However, Marvel did not reveal the name of the next project featuring the friendly neighborhood superhero.
Marvel has confirmed thirty names on the cast list for the Russo Brothers-directed film. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Patrick Stewart, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Tenoch Huerta, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Letitia Wright, James Marsden, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Alan Cumming, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, and Mabel Cadena.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
