Cindy Crawford Admits a Downside to Being Kaia Gerber’s Mom

Cindy Crawford opened up about raising a daughter who closely resembles her. The supermodel discussed Kaia Gerber and their shared connection to fashion. She admitted their resemblance brings both advantages and frustrations. Crawford also understands why comparisons can become difficult for Kaia.

Cindy Crawford says Kaia Gerber’s resemblance to her comes with both perks and drawbacks.

Crawford said comparisons between her and Kaia do not personally bother her. However, she knows the constant attention can affect her daughter differently. Kaia has built her own modeling career since entering fashion at 16. Still, people often connect her success with her famous mother.

“It doesn’t annoy me at all. I love it,” Crawford told Porter. She admitted she cannot understand having a famous parent. Crawford believes Kaia will simply need to manage that reality.

“There are perks that come with it,” Crawford explained. She also acknowledged “probably annoying things” exist for Kaia. Crawford even admitted that “at times, it sucks” for her daughter. She therefore recognizes the complicated side of their striking similarity.

Their resemblance has also created special opportunities for both women. Crawford recalled appearing with Kaia during a Versace show in 2017. “I love whenever I get to work with Kaia,” Crawford said. She described those professional moments as “really fun.”

Crawford has learned to step back as Kaia grows older. She credits her mother for teaching her that approach. Crawford tries not to give advice unless her children request it. She believes adult children need room to make their own choices.

The supermodel recently supported Kaia during another major career moment. Kaia encouraged Crawford before her Gucci Cruise runway appearance. Crawford admitted feeling nervous before participating in the huge show. Seeing her mother face those nerves also mattered to Kaia.

For Crawford, motherhood now means supporting her children differently. She recognises that Kaia carries both privileges and pressures. Their resemblance remains a visible part of their connection. However, Crawford wants her daughter to build her own path.
