Elon addressed the NDA allegation on September 9. He responded to TMZ’s X post discussing Ashley St. Clair’s claim. The 55-year-old tech mogul wrote, “She was never offered that and has a history of making false claims.” While Ashley claimed that turning down the alleged offer allowed her to speak freely on camera for Musk, a new documentary from filmmaker Alex Gibney. The film follows the tech mogul’s extraordinary rise and explores the tensions surrounding his growing power.
Speaking at the Musk press conference during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, St. Clair opened up about her decision. The comments came ahead of the documentary’s September 8 premiere. “When you are offered something like that, it creates a debate about what your speech means and how valuable that is,” she said. “Why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?” she added, as reported by Variety.
She said appearing in the documentary was a way to “set the example for my kids.” Ashley wanted to show them that speaking the truth is more important than financial comfort. She said she hopes her decision to speak out and fight back will “at least help a little bit.” The 232-minute documentary is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on October 16.
