Universal Pictures’ upcoming Snoop Dogg movie has found its Biggie Smalls, along with casting two other characters. The news comes weeks after the film added Tre Hale as Suge Knight. The upcoming film, titled Snoop, will follow Jonathan Daviss portraying Snoop Dogg’s rise to fame in the 1990s.
According to Variety, the Snoop Dogg biopic has cast rapper SwayvoTwain as Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls. Besides him, the film has also cast Bentley Green as RBX and G Perico as Big Reecie Cup.
Biggie was one of the most influential artists in the ’90s and signed with Bad Boy Records. Throughout his career, Snoop Dogg and Biggie were locked into a professional rivalry. However, the duo maintained mutual respect for each other, publicizing it after Tupac Shakur’s death. Biggie, also known as The Notorious B.I.G, was later killed in a drive-by shooting in 1997.
SwayvoTwain is known for songs such as DoveSoar and Ms. Angie’s Son. Snoop will be his first appearance in a feature film. Green previously appeared in the YouTube series Epic Rap Battles of History, followed by appearances in TV shows and films. Perico is also a musician who has appeared in films like Kings of L.A. and She Ball.
Who else has been cast in the Snoop Dogg biopic?
Besides Daviss portraying the titular rap icon, the film has cast Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Lauren London as Snoop’s late mother, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G, Tre Hale, Laya DeLeon Hayes as Shante Broadus, Olly Sholotan as Kurupt, Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, and Jonica Booth as The Lady of Rage.
The film is being directed by Craig Brewer from his own screenplay, which was based on Joe Robert Cole’s original script. It is being produced by Snoop Dogg himself through his Death Row Pictures label.
Snoop is scheduled to release in summer 2027.
