Actress Gwyneth Paltrow appeared on a podcast and opened up about one of Hollywood’s classic romances. The Oscar winner reflected on her relationship with Brad Pitt, including an engagement that never transitioned to marriage.
Gwyneth Paltrow says she and Brad Pitt had ‘love at first sight’ after meeting on Se7en
Paltrow appeared on the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast hosted by Benny Blanco. According to TMZ, she relooked at her relationship with Brad Pitt, whom she met while filming the thriller “Se7en”. She explained that the actors experienced a spark the first time they met.
“We had a love-at-first-sight thing,” Paltrow said, saying that the relationship blossomed at a critical time in both their careers. “It was pretty awesome,” the actress revealed, saying that she was 22 and Pitt was 31 at that time.
The actress also said that she felt overwhelmed with the attention she received because of the relationship. As her career started to peak, she became known not only for her films like “Se7en” and “Emma” but was also in the spotlight for being Pitt’s girlfriend.
The pair dated from 1994 to 1997 and became a popularly photographed couple during the decade. Pitt proposed in 1996, but the engagement never made it to marriage as Paltrow felt she was too young at the time.
Blanco appeared surprised at the news of the engagement, saying incredulously, “You were engaged to Brad Pitt?” Paltrow confirmed the fact, also saying that their demanding schedules and constant travel contributed to the end of the relationship.
Blanco joked that the split sounded like “conscious uncoupling”. He was referring to the term that Paltrow made famous during her separation from Chris Martin in 2014.
Despite the breakup, Paltrow has spoken positively about Pitt over the years. In a 2023 interview, she said that Pitt was “a very intriguing character”. She also explained that dating him was like “dating Prince William or something.” Her statement reflects the wild popularity that Pitt experienced at the peak of his career.
