President Donald Trump spent Monday morning showcasing a series of projects underway around Washington, D.C., turning social media into a running progress report on his effort to change the capital’s appearance. His posts showed repaired fountains, refreshed statues and restored public spaces, with Interior Department updates supplying the details behind the photos.

Trump’s posts featured work at several landmarks, including the George Mason Memorial and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Rather than offering one announcement, he shared individual project photos alongside updates from Greg Wischer of the Department of the Interior, giving followers a site-by-site look at the work (via The Hill).
At the FDR Memorial, crews recently brought fountains and pools back after five years without repairs. Wischer said more than 100,000 gallons of water move through the memorial’s seven granite fountains and pools.
Workers also repaired mechanical systems, the plaza and large sidewalk pavers. The fountain designs represent different challenges and achievements connected to Roosevelt’s four terms, according to the Interior Department update Trump posted on Truth Social.
The restoration also gave the George Mason Memorial a long-overdue facelift after eight years without repairs. As per the post, Crews tackled the fountain first, replacing its nozzles and control systems before giving the surrounding plaza its own rehabilitation. The work also included cleaning the George Mason statue, fixing masonry and restoring the pergola with fresh paint.
Meridian Hill Park is also part of the administration’s latest beautification push. Trump shared images of the restored Dante Alighieri and Joan of Arc monuments after both statues underwent cleaning and waxing. Wischer identified the Dante sculpture as the Italian poet holding The Divine Comedy, the landmark work he finished in 1321.
The restoration effort is tied to Trump’s broader “Make DC Safe and Beautiful Again” initiative, which reaches well beyond the two statues. The administration has outlined plans to revive additional fountains, add gold finishes to statues, and repaint the Reflecting Pool. Bigger construction proposals include a White House ballroom and a triumphal arch.
