King Charles would reportedly be “furious” if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle struck a TV deal for a BBC documentary. Now that the Sussexes have returned to Britain for an extended stay, the monarch is reportedly looking forward to spending more time with his son and grandchildren. However, while Harry and Charles are working to repair their strained relationship, a potential TV deal could reportedly be a setback to their efforts to reconcile.
King Charles could be ‘furious’ with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rumored TV deals, per source
If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decide to strike a TV deal and take part in a BBC documentary, sources say it could make King Charles “furious.” Harry and Markle previously took part in the Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan.”
In the series, they made various claims and aired public grievances against the royal family, casting a negative light on the royal world. It also created a rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.
Now, they are back in Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and reportedly want to get back into the royal fold. At the same time, they are also looking forward to different ventures during their stay in Britain. A report by Radar Online suggests that they are exploring opportunities with British broadcasters.
A source from the UK TV industry told the outlet that the royal couple doesn’t need another “gigantic Netflix-style agreement” now that they are back in the UK. Instead, they can make individual programs with the BBC or commercial broadcasters, giving them more freedom for each program, the source added. However, this move could upset Charles, according to an insider.
The insider said that if they work with the BBC, it could cause anxiety at the Palace. “Charles has been trying to rebuild his relationship with his son privately, and the last thing he wants is another television project generating headlines about the Royal Family. If it became another vehicle for discussing private royal matters, he would be furious,” the source continued.
