Garth Brooks’ Secret Gig Takes a Dangerous Turn in 90-Degree Heat

Country music icon Garth Brooks surprised fans with a secret concert in Colorado, but things didn’t go as planned.

Reportedly, several of the attendees had to be carried out due to heat-related illnesses.

Garth Brooks stopped his Denver show twice as fans battled heat exhaustion and dehydration

According to TMZ, Brooks performed at The Grizzly Rose in Denver under the pseudonym “Yukon Jack.” Although the venue hid Brooks’s real name, almost 2,000 fans gathered for the concert.

However, with temperatures rising over 90 degrees, several attendees experienced heat-related illnesses. Videos from the event showed fans receiving assistance as medical personnel moved through the crowd.

Reportedly, the Adams County Fire Rescue treated approximately 25 to 30 people for health complications due to heat. Emergency crews were already at the venue, handing out water to the attendees. Three people were transported to the hospital for more intensive treatment.

Brooks also cooperated with the emergency personnel and stopped the concert twice as medical teams carried out those suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Despite the setbacks, the surprise concert gave many fans the chance to see and hear the star up close, especially as they barely get the chance to attend high-profile concerts at such an intimate venue. The singer is known for staging special performances and maintaining a close relationship with the audiences.

The incident comes amid severe heat being experienced in Colorado and across the United States. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, 1,124 people in 18 of the state’s most populous counties sought treatment for heat-related illnesses between May and early August. Colorado Newsline reports that the state is all set to achieve a record rate of heat-related medical visits.

Brooks’s concert is not the only public event to have had medical setbacks. In August, more than 70 attendees at a Colorado Springs music festival required treatment for heat-related illnesses. Several attendees were hospitalized as the temperatures hit 97 degrees.
