Brad Pitt‘s Cliff Booth movie has received a disappointing update about its theatrical release. The upcoming Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood follow-up will have an IMAX-only release in the United States, giving it a limited theatrical run ahead of its Netflix debut.
According to Empire City Box Office, the film, officially titled The Further Misadventures of Cliff Booth, will be shown in only about 350 U.S. locations. There will be no standard-format or competing premium large-format (PLF) screenings. David Fincher directs the movie from a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino, with Pitt returning as Cliff Booth.
Netflix has scheduled the IMAX release for November 25, 2026, followed by its global streaming debut on December 23, 2026.

The Further Misadventures of Cliff Booth follows the character introduced in Tarantino’s 2019 movie Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Cliff Booth in the original film.
The story is set in 1977, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, the stuntman who worked alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton in the first film. The new story will explore another chapter of Cliff’s life in Hollywood.
Netflix ran a teaser trailer of the film during this year’s Super Bowl in February. In the clip that aired, Pitt’s character says, “I don’t possess many talents, but I know better than to get in the way of a good story.” Tarantino has written the screenplay, while Fincher serves as director.
This project marks another collaboration between Pitt and Fincher. The director-actor duo has previously worked together on Se7en (1995), Fight Club (1999), and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008).
The cast also includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Karren Karagulian, and Corey Fogelmanis. Pitt is also producing the film alongside Ceán Chaffin.
