Jason Statham‘s Mutiny is continuing to struggle at the box office, with the action thriller recording another steep decline in its second weekend. The film’s latest performance has further weakened its theatrical run and puts it among Statham’s underperforming releases of 2026.
Mutiny’s second weekend at box office wasn’t great either
Mutiny has had another difficult weekend at the box office, with its domestic earnings falling sharply in its second week. The Jason Statham-led action thriller brought in an estimated $2.75 million between August 28 and 30, representing a 64.3% decline from its opening weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, the film placed ninth at the domestic box office during its second weekend.
The result comes shortly after Mutiny opened in theaters on August 21, 2026. The film began its theatrical run with $7.71 million from 2,703 theaters. Following its second weekend, its domestic total has reached $13.23 million, leaving the movie with a relatively modest start in North America. Meanwhile, Mutiny has earned approximately $6.60 million from overseas markets so far, bringing its worldwide box office total to $19.83 million.
With a reported production budget of $40 million, the film has currently earned less than half of that amount worldwide. The film’s theatrical run has also been complicated by an accidental streaming leak. Mutiny was available on Prime Video for several hours before Amazon identified the mistake and removed it. The early availability was followed by piracy and affected the film’s performance in overseas markets.
Response from critics has also been mixed, although audiences have responded more favorably. Mutiny currently has a 49% critics score from 122 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, while its audience score stands at 86%.
The result adds to a difficult year at the box office for Statham. Mutiny is his second box office underperformer of 2026 after Shelter, which was released on January 30. Shelter ultimately earned more than $54 million worldwide, including approximately $12.8 million from domestic theaters and $41.7 million internationally.
