According to TMZ, Hansen shared part of the NDA he says A24 asked him to sign before a private screening. The movie stars Pattinson as Hansen and draws from his To Catch a Predator days. Hansen claimed the paperwork asked him to give up rights connected to his life. He said he refused to sign it and believed A24 tried to pull a fast one.
Clause 5 of the alleged NDA says the recipient releases the company and its related parties from claims linked to the project. Hansen told the outlet that he wasn’t interested in signing the document. However, a studio source pushed back on his account. The source said A24 sent Hansen a standard screening NDA one week before the planned screening.
The studio source also said Hansen had the option of sending back the document with comments. He could have asked his lawyer to review it and suggest possible changes. Instead, the source said Hansen did not send it back with changes. He then arrived at the preview intending to attend without signing the NDA.
The disagreement comes as Primetime continues to draw attention online. The film’s trailer has already received positive responses from viewers. Many praised Pattinson for his apparent impression of Hansen. The movie focuses on the former host’s work on the popular series To Catch a Predator.
Hansen now faces a different way to watch the movie. According to TMZ, he will need to buy a ticket if he wants to see the film. The dispute also leaves questions about how Hansen will react after watching it. For the time being, Hansen and A24 have presented two different versions of what happened.
