AnnaLynne McCord and Danny Cipriani got married on Saturday in Los Angeles in their back garden, a decade after they first met.
However, the couple drew attention weeks before their wedding when they asked guests to fund their reception expenses. They used a U.S. site, Honeyfund, to ask for donations between $100 and $600 toward their wedding and honeymoon expenses. Honeyfund is a U.S. site that helps couples pay for expenses like cake decoration, catering, and music.
Their funding page on the website still has remaining slots that were not contributed to, according to The Sun.
These included eight $600 slots for wedding venue construction, five slots at $200 for reception drinks, and seven slots at $250 for catering. So, five slots for drinks remained unfunded, meaning guests did not contribute towards $1,000 worth of wedding booze expenses. The funding site also included five unpaid slots for wedding photography at $300 and two rehearsal dinner slots at $500.
Reportedly, guests contributed $100 for their wedding license, $600 for wedding cake, $600 for floral arrangement, and $100 for music.
Speaking to The Sun, AnnaLynne McCord said, “I was told I was despicable — and that I was trying to extort money from my wedding guests. People actually donated ten dollars towards the wedding so they could write on the site that Danny and I were disgusting. There were even death threats.”
The couple reportedly faced death threats after they started their crowdfunding. The 90210 star and rugby player got married in an “elegant bohemian” ceremony. McCord wore a white lace dress with an embroidered veil while Cipriani wore an all-black suit. The couple’s wedding came after they faced backlash over crowdfunding for their wedding.
