The untitled comedy comes from creators Liz Heldens and Matt Ward. It will follow Heidi, played by Banks, after a messy divorce. She sets out to build a new chapter for herself and her children. However, her plans quickly take an unexpected turn.

Reports from Deadline suggest that Heidi reportedly becomes involved in coordinating her father’s retirement community sexcapades. Her father will be played by Danson. Selleck’s role remains a mystery for now. The actor has joined the ensemble as a guest star. The main cast also includes Rob Delaney, Katey Sagal, Jared Goldstein and Spencer Moss. Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau and Simu Liu will appear in recurring roles.

The series will be produced for Apple TV by 20th Television. Heldens and Ward will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Banks will also executive produce through her Brownstone Productions banner. Jonathan Krisel will direct the pilot and executive produce.

The project comes after Selleck completed his 15-season run on Blue Bloods. He played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on the CBS drama. Selleck also served as an executive producer throughout the series. The role became one of his most recognisable television performances.

Selleck has also remained associated with several major television roles. He famously played Thomas Magnum in Magnum P.I. He later appeared as Dr Richard Burke on Friends. His television credits also include the Jesse Stone movie franchise.

His film career has stretched across several decades. Selleck appeared in movies including In & Out and Quigley Down Under. He also starred alongside Ted Danson in the 1987 comedy Three Men and a Baby. Their new project offers another unexpected reunion for the actors.

The upcoming comedy will give Selleck a Different setting from his familiar police drama. However, audiences will have to wait for more details about his character. For now, his addition adds another recognisable name to Apple TV’s ensemble.
