Inde Navarrette was reportedly in talks to star in Michael Mann’s Heat 2. There have been multiple conflicting claims about the actress’s involvement. However, the latest report gives a positive update on Navarrette’s potential casting.
According to a recent Page Six report, insider sources claim that Navarrette is no longer in the running for a role in Heat 2. The Obsession star reportedly walked away from the role due to her recent commitment to play Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.
However, a new report by Nexus Point News says Navarrette is still among those in contention to star in Heat 2. Sources have told the outlet that the actress remains in consideration for the role of Gabriella.
Other actresses in talks to appear in the sequel include Eiza González as Elisa. Meanwhile, Odessa Young is under consideration for a young Charlene, a role originated by Ashley Judd.
Although Nexus Point News is considered a reliable outlet, having given multiple accurate reports in the past, fans must note that there has been no official confirmation regarding Navarrette’s involvement. Whether the other actresses will join the cast also remains uncertain.
What else do we know about Heat 2?
Heat 2 serves as both a sequel and a prequel to Michael Mann’s acclaimed 1995 crime thriller starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and the late Val Kilmer. It is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Mann and Meg Gardiner.
Set to be directed by Mann himself, the movie follows the familiar characters from the original movie in different timelines. While the official cast remains under wraps, multiple A-listers have been linked to the project. They include Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Driver, Austin Butler and Bradley Cooper.
Mann had previously talked about the project in a 2022 interview with Deadline. “It’s been my intention for a long time to do the further stories of Heat,” the director said. “There was always a rich history or back-story about the events in these people’s lives before 1995 in Heat and projection of where their lives would take them after.”
Heat 2 reportedly begins filming in August 2026.
