‘Horrible’: Amanda Bynes Shares Reaction to Child Star Cohort Hayden Panettiere’s Death

Amanda Bynes pays tribute to Hayden Panettiere after her unexpected passing earlier this week. The two child stars grew up in a “messy generation” in Hollywood, as Panettiere noted in a 2013 interview.

On August 18, 2026, Bynes took to LinkedIn to share her reaction to Panettiere’s death. Bynes wrote, “Life can hit you hard, and fast. What a horrible situation,” and shared article images of the late actress’s interviews.

Hayden Panettiere sadly passed away at 36 on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The cause of her death has still not been revealed. Prior to her demise, she opened up about the industry struggles she faced as a child artist. Panettiere grew up alongside other child actors like Bynes and Lindsay Lohan. Besides Bynes, other popular soap stars paid tributes to the late actress in heartfelt messages.

Hayden Panettiere’s ‘Miss Perfect’ remarks offer a glimpse into her generation with Amanda Bynes

In an old interview for Glamour magazine, Hayden Panettiere spoke about the “Miss Perfect” remarks she earned. Moreover, she provided a glimpse of her generation with Bynes and Lohan in Hollywood.

The late actress also spoke about “not being perfect” and “not trying to be perfect,” and compared herself to the other young peers’ on-screen lives during the time.

She remarked, “I came up in the Messy Generation. The generation of the disaster child. It’s not that I didn’t go to clubs or have my picture taken. I was 16 years old. I was experimenting just like any kid. But I had friends and family around me to yank me back when I was heading in the wrong direction… The thing that really saved me was that I still had that healthy fear of my parents—I still had a midnight curfew at 18!”

While Bynes and Lohan shared their private lives on screen most of the time, Panettiere thanked her family and friends for keeping her grounded. However, her struggles were hidden from the cameras until her recently released memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning. There, she addressed deeply personal stories of her struggle with stardom, among other topics.
