Watch Amanda Seyfried’s Priceless Reaction When Her Daughter Delivers a Ghostface Jump Scare

Amanda Seyfried got an early Halloween scare while recording herself performing music at home. The actress was focused on singing when her daughter, Nina, appeared behind her wearing a Ghostface mask from the Scream franchise.

Seyfried shared the moment on Instagram in a video of herself singing Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and playing the dulcimer. As she remained focused on the song, Nina quietly crept into the background. Seyfried eventually glanced at her phone, spotted the masked figure on the screen, and immediately screamed.

As seen in the video, Nina quickly celebrated her successful prank by clapping and jumping around. Seyfried stopped the recording after realizing what had happened, turning the quiet performance into an unexpected scare.

The video also offered another glimpse of Seyfried’s passion for music. She previously showed off her dulcimer skills on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she performed a portion of Mitchell’s “California.”

The sweet music moment quickly took an unexpected turn

“A Case of You” was written and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. It appeared on her 1971 album Blue and is one of her best-known songs. The track provided a fitting backdrop for Seyfried’s quiet home performance, until Nina entered the frame wearing a Ghostface mask.

The latest video arrives ahead of Halloween, making Nina’s Scream mask prank particularly timely. The official Scream Instagram account also reacted to the video, commenting, “Sorry, my bad.”

Actress Natalie Portman also reacted to the video, commenting three question marks. Ukrainian-American author Tetyana Denford wrote, “Not at any moment did I predict where this was going to go.” Hassan Smith also wrote, “So beautiful? yo, watch out, watch out, WATCH OUT.”

Seyfried learned to play the dulcimer during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since used the instrument for several performances. She previously explained that she learned many songs from Mitchell’s Blue during that period.
