Princess Eugenie’s Baby Name Has Royal Fans Blown Away for a Reason — Report

Princess Eugenie has revealed the name of her newborn baby daughter. She has chosen a meaningful name that pays tribute to loved ones and connects the baby to both English and Portuguese heritage. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their third child on August 3, then waited two weeks before introducing their daughter to the public.

Princess Eugenie honors late Queen Elizabeth with baby daughter’s name

Princess Eugenie, 36, announced her baby’s name on Instagram on Monday, August 17. She shared three photographs of her daughter, including a sweet image showing the newborn with her older brothers, August Philip Hawke, 5, and Ernest George Ronnie, 3. The couple named their daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.

“2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world,” Eugenie wrote, describing the days since her daughter’s birth as a particularly special and love-filled period. According to Eugenie, the baby’s name honors three people whom she and Jack “love and admire past and present.” She also confirmed that the name includes a tribute to her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The name Elizabeth immediately stood out because it honors Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned for 70 years before she died in 2022. Younger members of the Royal Family also carry the name. Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, has Elizabeth as a middle name, while their cousins Zara Tindall and Lady Louise also share it.  Eugenie said the name honors two places close to the family’s heart: England and Portugal. The couple welcomed their daughter in Lisbon, making the Portuguese connection especially meaningful.

Several of Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandchildren also have Elizabeth as part of their names. Princess Charlotte, Lena Tindall, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, and Athena Mapelli Mozzi all carry the name. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the tribute a step further by naming their daughter Lilibet, Queen Elizabeth’s childhood nickname. According to Nameberry, Adelaide means “noble.” The name also has a strong connection to British royal history.
