A new report suggests Professor X is afraid to use the powers of one Marvel superhero in Avengers: Doomsday. Insider Alex Perez shared the details during a recent Q&A. His comments offer a small clue about how the hero’s powers will be handled in the movie.
As per an article published by The Cosmic Circus, a fan asked Perez about the superhero’s role alongside Yelena Belova. He said the character has some cool moments with other heroes, but one person besides Yelena is still hesitant to use his powers. That person is Charles Xavier, better known as Professor X.
Why might Professor X be afraid to use Sentry’s powers in Avengers: Doomsday
Lewis Pullman plays Robert “Bob” Reynolds, aka the Sentry, who is described as stronger than all the Avengers combined. But his powers come with a serious problem. He has a dark alter ego called the Void, which is known as a destructive force in the comics.
Professor X can read minds and sense danger. His concern could be that using the Sentry’s powers might bring out the Void.
That fear would fit the movie’s dangerous setup. Avengers: Doomsday brings superheroes from three universes together as they face a deadly collision. Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom leads the threat. With so many powerful heroes involved, an unstable ally could make things even more dangerous.
Anthony and Joe Russo are directing Avengers: Doomsday. Filming began in London in April 2025, and the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
The confirmed cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, and Florence Pugh as Yelena. The X-Men are also returning, with Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
