A spin-off of an NBC hit with Keke Palmer has been announced. The Voice, one of the channel’s longest-running music competition series, will receive a new celebrity-focused show. The reality TV show has already completed 29 seasons, with Season 30 airing on September 21 this year.
According to Deadline, a new spin-off titled The Voice: Celebrity has been announced. Palmer is confirmed to host the show instead of longtime host Carson Daly.
The spin-off will also feature segments such as The Voice Boot Camp and the VIP Room. It will follow celebrities as they prepare for their blind auditions, while the latter will bring contestants together to watch one another perform. The Voice: Celebrity is slated to air on NBC next spring.
Who else is involved in NBC’s spin-off of The Voice?
In addition to Palmer, the show’s coaches have been announced as Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green. Jonas will make his coaching debut on The Voice: Celebrity. However, both Latifah and Green will first serve as coaches in The Voice Season 30 before returning for the spin-off. No additional celebrity contestants have been announced yet.
That said, it was stated that this spin-off will feature various artists, including actors, comedians, influencers, musicians, and athletes, who will participate in a music competition with the traditional rules of the original show. Instead of searching for undiscovered talent, the show will focus on established public figures.
Although Carson Daly, who has hosted The Voice since its 2011 debut, will not host the spin-off, he will serve as a producer. John de Mol will executive produce alongside showrunner Audrey Morrissey, Mark Burnett, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson, Adam H. Sher, and Barry Poznick.
The series will serve as Season 31 in the De Mol-created franchise. This new version will mark the first celebrity-focused spin-off to release in the United States. The Voice is a collaborative production between MGM Alternative, Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, and ITV Studios.
