A new Armor Wars rumor has emerged, fueling fresh speculation about the much-delayed Marvel movie. The project, which was supposed to happen a decade ago, is finally getting some attention. It is being said that this time the movie is set for a major change.
What is the new Armor Wars rumor?
According to James Mack, Armor Wars may be reworked into a new Iron Man film that would reboot Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr. previously played the character. He was last seen as Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. If the rumor turns out to be true, the film may introduce a fresh take on Iron Man instead of continuing the original story centered on War Machine.
Marvel Studios first announced Armor Wars in December 2020 as a Disney+ series starring Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, also known as War Machine. The plot was going to revolve around the consequences of Tony Stark’s technology falling into the wrong hands.
In September 2022, Marvel shifted the format of the production from a streaming series into a theatrical film. The studio felt that the story would be more impactful on the big screen. Don Cheadle was confirmed to return as part of the cast, with Yassir Lester remaining as the writer.
Since the shift in formats and platforms, Marvel has not revealed any further information regarding the project. The movie does not have a confirmed release date, director, or production schedule. Meanwhile, Cheadle remains the sole confirmed cast member, while Armor Wars continues to be listed as a project in development by Marvel.
In the meantime, this is only a rumor and should be treated as such, as Marvel has not announced any Armor Wars plans at this time.
