Nearly two decades after Jennifer’s Body first reached theaters, the long-discussed sequel has received a promising new update. Recent reports suggest that Jennifer’s Body 2 is moving closer to production, with Megan Fox expected to reprise her role in the follow-up. However, the studio has yet to officially confirm the film.
Jennifer’s Body 2 to reportedly start filming in October, with Megan Fox returning
The long-awaited sequel to Jennifer’s Body appears to have taken another significant step. A new production update suggests the follow-up is preparing to enter principal photography later this year, with Megan Fox reportedly returning to reprise her role. However, the project has not yet received an official announcement from 20th Century Studios.
According to Production Weekly, principal photography is currently scheduled to begin in October, with Vancouver listed as the filming location. The latest report indicates that the sequel is moving toward active production. Meanwhile, Dread Central has separately reported that Fox is set to reprise her role. The studio has yet to make a formal casting announcement.
The reported filming window follows recent comments from Diablo Cody, who confirmed during the Storytelling 360: State of the Story panel in Los Angeles that she is writing the screenplay. Cody’s remarks came months after director Karyn Kusama shared an encouraging update on the project. Speaking to Deadline, Kusama said, “I know [Diablo Cody’s] working on [Jennifer’s Body 2] right now,” before adding, “It sounds fun and crazy like the first film.”
Fox is currently the only cast member reportedly attached to the sequel. Amanda Seyfried, who starred alongside Fox in the original film, has not been confirmed to return. However, she has publicly expressed interest in reprising her role. During an interview with Variety, Seyfried said, “I’m not doing it without [Fox].”
Released in 2009, Jennifer’s Body struggled to make an impact at the box office and received a mixed critical response. However, over time, the film found a devoted following and has since become a cult favorite.
