Elizabeth Olsen and Aubrey Plaza’s R-rated dark comedy Ingrid Goes West is headed to Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be available to stream on the platform beginning August 2, 2026.

Directed by Matt Spicer, Ingrid Goes West premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The film centers on Ingrid Thorburn, a troubled woman who attempts to rebuild her life after a series of personal setbacks. Believing she has found the perfect role model in Instagram celebrity Taylor Sloane, Ingrid moves to Los Angeles. She quickly succeeds in becoming part of the influencer’s glamorous lifestyle.

As Ingrid gets closer to Taylor, the difference between her online image and real life starts to show. Meanwhile, Ingrid’s obsession spirals out of control, leading to a series of darkly comic events. The film stars Plaza as Ingrid Thorburn and Olsen as Taylor Sloane. Other cast members include Billy Magnussen as Nicky Sloane, Wyatt Russell as Ezra O’Keefe, and Pom Klementieff as Harley Chung among others.

Ingrid Goes West received a strong response from critics upon release. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an 84 percent critics’ score based on 197 reviews. Meanwhile its audience score stands at 71 percent.

Shannon O’Connor of The Daily Beast reported, “One of Plaza’s greatest talents is her ability to make you see and feel the most vulnerable parts of people—and this is beautifully on display in Ingrid.” Meanwhile, Alex Flood of NME noted, “Grim social media satire that’ll make you pop your phone in a bin.”
