Prince Harry‘s top priority for the UK trip is not Meghan Markle. He has reportedly expressed that he is looking into options to bring his children to the UK safely for their upcoming trip. A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex revealed that Harry is exploring every possible security option so that his children, Archie and Lilibet, can enjoy their first-ever visit to his home country. Notably, Harry has reportedly been offered royal accommodations, but the security assessment for the entire visit is yet to take place.
Prince Harry reportedly exploring ways to have a safe UK trip with kids
Prince Harry is reportedly prioritizing a safe trip to the UK for his children, even though officials have not yet finalized security measures. Previously, media outlets reported that the Duke of Sussex was reconsidering the trip because authorities had not promised him police protection. However, Harry’s spokesperson emphasized that the UK trip will go as planned.
King Charles has reportedly offered the family accommodation on a royal estate. However, a palace source revealed that Harry has not accepted the offer, insisting, “the issue has never been accommodation.” The Duke of Sussex’s biggest concern is whether appropriate and adequate security will be provided throughout the visit. The spokesperson added that Harry is continuing to explore “every available option” so that Archie and Lilibet can visit his home country.
His spokesperson revealed to PEOPLE: “The issue has never been accommodation. The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit. The Duke continues to explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the U.K.”
Previously, Harry and Meghan confirmed their plans to visit the UK with their children. However, according to a source, the family was notified that they would be provided with police protection on royal property, but not elsewhere during the visit. Notably, sources reportedly cite inadequate security measures as the reason the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not visited the UK in several years.
Notably, Harry is visiting the country to partake in the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
