Keanu Reeves Cast in New LEGO Movie With Live-Action Twist

Keanu Reeves has landed a role in a new LEGO movie that reportedly features a unique twist. Working again with Josh Cooley, the John Wick star is expected to play a character who has not yet been revealed.

What do we know about the new Keanu Reeves LEGO movie?

Although Keanu Reeves’s role in the upcoming LEGO film remains unknown, insider reports suggest the new film will mark a major shift for the franchise. The reported shift involves blending live-action and animated worlds.

The plot of the film has not yet been disclosed, according to Deadline. However, according to insiders, the undisclosed LEGO film will center around Reeves’s character after Josh Cooley stepped in with a new character-centric plotline. Whether he will portray a live-action character or voice a LEGO character remains unknown.

Keanu Reeves and Josh Cooley worked together on Toy Story 4, directed by the latter. In the fourth installment of the franchise, Keanu Reeves lent his voice to the character Duke Caboom. Toy Story 4 grossed a massive $1.07 billion globally and was also nominated for Best Picture by the Academy. Keanu Reeves returned to voice Duke Caboom in Toy Story 5, which was released in theatres on June 19, 2026, worldwide.

It is noteworthy that the first film, titled The Lego Movie, grossed $467.2 million worldwide. Its success led to a series of LEGO films produced by Warner Bros. While the Toy Story movies ranked well as they progressed, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part underperformed at the box office, making only $192.3 million globally. In 2020, Universal Pictures claimed rights to the LEGO films.

Universal has refused to comment on the upcoming LEGO film or reveal the screenwriter. Apart from Keanu Reeves, no other cast members have been revealed. Furthermore, the production is trying to commission a movie before the rights to the property expire.
