Writer Dan Greaney, who predicted Donald Trump‘s current presidential run on The Simpsons, has announced his own run for office. Dressed as a “self-proclaimed prophet”, he reflected on the Trump administration’s operations. Greaney also revealed himself as a progressive Republican candidate. His recent press release offered insight into what his campaign stands for and the key issues it plans to focus on.

Greaney took to Instagram to share a two-part video to announce that he’s running for president in 2028 as a “progressive Republican in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.” He appeared in a wizard get-up to speak about what he “foretold” about the Trump administration and its downfall in Part 1.
He later discussed what democracy should look like. Greaney argued that the current government is not living up to its expectations or doing what it was elected to do. “The United States was founded on a transcendental insight: that all men are created equal. But now, Trump, Vance, the billionaires, careerists, and cowards in both parties have turned their backs on it. It’s money, power, and security for them, but not for you. In America, the government is supposed to work for everyone. Democracy for all, accountability for all, prosperity for all,” he added.
He then expressed his desire to help the nation. Greaney recalled that he is not a lawyer, just a prophet, who went to law school and passed the bar. Stepping out of his prophet outfit, he firmly declared that he is a lawyer indeed and is running for the presidency in 2028.
He revealed that his campaign is centered on “rejecting the counsels of despair.” His candidacy aims to restore democratic norms and progressive policies, including universal healthcare and the Green New Deal. According to his press release, the campaign is ultimately focused on building an America that works for all. Greaney predicted Donald Trump’s administration in the 2000 The Simpsons episode titled “Bart to the Future.”
