Jelly Roll admits he is ‘avoiding’ the weight scale
Jelly Roll shared that he’s avoiding the weight scale amid plans to run the New York City marathon in November. DeFord (real name) shared a YouTube video titled, “Finally Stepping On The Scale…” For those unversed, the singer began working out diligently in 2023, when he weighed over 500 lbs. The “Save Me” crooner explained how he had decided to “enjoy the holidays” and go easy on his diet (via PEOPLE).
Unfortunately, he broke his collarbone at the end of last year. This means he had to “quit” any form of exercise for a “period of time.” DeFord shared, “We hit the goal and it was right before the holidays, so I was like, ‘You know what man, I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight, I’m going to enjoy the holidays.’”
The 41-year-old explained how he enjoyed hearty meals on his birthday and on holidays before his unfortunate accident. “I had a big Thanksgiving meal, I had a big birthday meal, I ate a big Christmas meal. Kinda got off the rails and I broke my collarbone … a few days before Christmas,” the musician admitted.
Fearing he may have piled on one too many pounds, DeFord admitted he has been “avoiding the scale” recently. The musician confessed he was “afraid” of what it would say. “I have, to some degree, lost my way,” he added.
However, on a positive note, DeFord plans on getting back on track amid plans to run the New York City marathon in November. The “Son of a Sinner” singer shared, “I’ve never run a marathon or thought about running a marathon. So now I’m training to run a marathon, which is different.” The YouTube video cut to snippets of him running and training hard to regain his health.
