Adria Arjona‘s reported casting in Man of Tomorrow has raised questions about which character she could be playing. Most rumors point to her possibly playing the character Maxima. However, fans have speculated that she could instead be taking on the role of an iconic hero. With a release scheduled for Summer 2027, production on the highly anticipated film is expected to start soon.
Is Adria Arjona playing Maxima or Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow?
It’s currently unclear if Adria Arjona is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow.
Deadline and Variety recently reported that the actress had been cast as Maxima. However, The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap shared that while she had joined the movie’s production, her role was unknown.
Since not all reporting outlets named the character she was playing, many fans speculated that the Andor star could be playing the DCU’s Wonder Woman.
The speculation seemingly holds some weight. This is because James Gunn himself addressed the prospect of Arjona taking up the mantle of the Amazonian superheroine. While explaining to Extra about why he started following her on Instagram, Gunn supported the idea, stating, “She’d be a great Wonder Woman.”
However, Gunn has not confirmed Arjona’s role as Maxima or Wonder Woman in the movie or her involvement. Accordingly, fans will have to wait until the matter is officially addressed to know for sure.
Deadline earlier reported that Arjona was screentesting for Maxima alongside Industry’s Marisa Abela and Fallout’s Ella Purnell. However, Gunn debunked the report on Threads. He called the report inaccurate and stressed that while he was friends with the former, he never met the latter two despite being a fan of their work.
Despite this, the outlet retained Arjona’s name in a subsequent report about screen testings that also mentioned Sydney Chandler (Alien: Earth), Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies), and Eva De Dominici (The Cleaning Lady).
Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran revealed at CinemaCon that production will begin next week. The story will reportedly follow Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) as they join forces to fight a larger threat, possibly Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
