A sweet-toothed thief has made off with a massive haul of chocolatey goodness, leaving brands and social media users in stitches. A shipment carrying 12 tons of KitKat bars was stolen and vanished into thin air. The KitKat heist has now become a viral sensation, unleashing a tidal wave of jokes from major brands, including Domino’s Pizza.
Social media erupts after 12-ton KitKat heist
Thieves made off with a whopping 12 tons of KitKat bars in Europe, triggering a hilarious social media frenzy.
The beloved chocolate brand announced on Instagram on March 29 that 413,793 of its Formula 1 chocolate bars were stolen in Europe. Perpetrators hijacked a shipment of KitKat bars headed from Central Italy to Poland on March 26, 2026. Nestlé has since been working with authorities to investigate.
“We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate,” KitKat further shared. “The good news: there are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, several brands jumped on the KitKat heist bandwagon, taking to X (formerly Twitter) and turning the chocolate caper into a hilarious marketing moment.
Domino’s Pizza led the charge with a tongue-in-cheek message, stating: “Official statement: We would like to share our thoughts and condolences with Kit Kat following their recent sad news. On a completely unrelated note, we’re pleased to announce we’ll now be selling a new Kit Kat pizza.”
Moreover, KFC chimed in with a laugh-out-loud remark about their secret recipe. “Sorry guys, we were product testing for our 12th herb and spice,” they wrote.
Eventually, DoorDash also got in on the action, sharing a witty statement that had users giggling. It read, “DoorDash Unofficial Statement: Hey guys, DoorDash here. Due to a completely random packaging error, we have 12 tons of KitKats in our DashMarts that we can’t sell. The good news: all you have to do is go to your DoorDash app and add like 500-600 KitKats to your cart and this should resolve itself quickly. Thank you.”
Furthermore, with brands having a field day with the news, KitKat humorously stated that they appreciate “the criminals’ exceptional taste.”
