With the ongoing conflict in Iran and more unrest in global geopolitics than in many years prior, the lead Republican in the House has awarded Donald Trump a newly concocted honor. This is allegedly to acknowledge the things the President has done for the American people. The newly introduced “America First” award will be awarded every year from now on, according to Mike Johnson. The critics of the Trump administration rained down on the newly introduced award and ridiculed the President in the process.
Donald Trump receives America First Award
On Wednesday evening, Speaker Mike Johnson presented President Donald Trump with the “America First” Award. This is a newly introduced award that will allegedly be awarded every year going forward. This comes as the conflict in Iran continues and numerous other domestic and international geopolitical issues plague the United States of America.
“The president has done so much for the American people, and we want to honor him, in some small way, some token of our appreciation for his leadership,” Johnson said of the award (via The Guardian). “So, tonight, we have created a new award.”
Johnson proceeded to bring out the award, which was a golden eagle statue. “We could think of no better title for what that is.” Johnson added, “That’s this beautiful golden statue here – appropriate for the new golden era in America.”
The award received sufficient backlash soon after the announcement. Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary and the host of a show on MS Now, was vocal about his opposition to this “participation trophy.”
Psaki said, “Little Mike Johnson and all those Republicans have just created yet another participation trophy to give their very special boy in the White House to make sure he feels good about himself.” He added, “Any other adult in this country would feel completely embarrassed by the patronizing way that Trump is showered with fake awards on a near-daily basis. That’s just how Republicans have to treat this president.”
Last month, Trump received the “Undisputed Champion of Beautiful, Clean Coal” award from mining executives. Before that, Trump was given another made-up award, the FIFA Peace Prize, for “promoting peace and unity around the globe”.
Meanwhile, the USA’s situation remains tense with Iran.
