Netflix is moving forward with a new scripted comedy built around Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo. According to Deadline, Amy Poehler is attached as a producer. The project will feature the duo in fictionalized versions of themselves as they step into a scripted format.
Set in New York City, the show follows two friends navigating personal challenges while they try to reshape their lives. It focuses on their evolving friendship as they attempt to move forward from past setbacks.
The project is being co-written by Berner and DeSorbo alongside Kay Cannon, who will also serve as showrunner. It is produced by Poehler under her Paper Kite Productions banner, with Universal Television serving as the studio. Poehler and Kim Lessing are also executive producers on the project.
The idea for the series originated with Berner and DeSorbo, who first met while working briefly at the same company in New York. They later gained recognition through Summer House, where they joined during its third season. The former exited after Season 5 to pursue stand-up comedy, while the latter departed after Season 9 and has since focused on her work as a fashion influencer.
Together, the pair co-host the podcast Giggly Squad, which won Podcast of the Year at the iHeartPodcast Awards. Both have since explored opportunities in scripted content. They are set to appear in Mindy Kaling’s upcoming Hulu comedy Not Suitable For Work. Berner has also developed a career in stand-up comedy, including opening for Poehler and Tina Fey during a stand-up show in May 2025. The comedian also confirmed the news publicly by sharing the update on social media. “Good day to be a giggler,” she wrote in the caption.
