A longtime Summer House star won’t be returning after 10 seasons. Bravo TV’s hit show will bid farewell to a cast member before Season 11 starts due to a scandal involving her former best friend and new boyfriend.
Who is leaving Summer House after 10 seasons?
As per Deadline, Amanda Batula appeared in all 10 seasons of Summer House but will not be returning for Season 11. She was also close friends with fellow cast member Ciara Miller. Her departure was announced after the revelation of her relationship with West Wilson, a former Summer House cast member and Miller’s ex-boyfriend.
Their relationship was revealed through a shared Instagram post and a statement which read, “We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected. Our connection grew out of a genuine, long-standing friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”
According to Bravo’s Executive Noah Samton, “If you have two Housewives who hate each other, and can’t get along, they can shoot a scene, and at the end of the day go home to their own house. On ‘Summer House,’ they actually live together. So if people have a real issue with each other, you can’t live together in a house. And we wouldn’t do that to the cast.” With the rift between Batula and Miller, neither’s contracts was renewed for the upcoming season.
Before their departure and after the relationship was revealed, Bravo hosted reunion episodes, giving the couple a chance to explain themselves and clear things up.
However, this was left unsatisfactory as Samton commented, “When you watch the reunion — as incredible as it is, and as great television as it is — you walk away feeling a little unsatisfied because of the way that West and Amanda handle themselves. They didn’t explain themselves in a satisfying way.”
Bravo subsequently released a bonus reunion episode titled Summer House: The Aftermath in an attempt to get the pair to open up about their relationship. Season 11 will return with most of the Season 10 cast intact, including Miller, Carl Radke, Kyle Cooke, and Lindsay Hubbard.
