Rebecca Ferguson is keeping fans guessing about her future in the Peaky Blinders universe after her recent appearance in the franchise’s new film, leaving the door slightly open for more.
Rebecca Ferguson on if Kaulo will return after new Peaky Blinders movie
Ferguson plays Kaulo Chiriklo in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a mysterious Romany figure tied closely to the Shelby family. The character enters the story with a strong presence, influencing both Tommy Shelby and his son, Duke, in key moments.
When Radio Times asked if Kaulo could return in future stories, Ferguson didn’t give a clear yes, but she didn’t shut it down either. “I never say no,” she said, hinting that the character’s journey might not be completely over. However, she added that not every role needs to continue. “I think that Kaulo was so essential for this film, but I don’t always feel that a character needs to have a continuation; we can be satisfied with not being satisfied,” Ferguson shared.
In the film, Kaulo is revealed to be deeply connected to Duke’s past, acting as a powerful and manipulative presence. She pushes Duke toward claiming power within the Shelby family, even encouraging him to take extreme steps against his father. While Tommy eventually sees through her intentions, Kaulo remains a key figure by the story’s end.
The final moments place her beside Duke as he steps into leadership, suggesting she could take on a guiding role similar to Polly Gray from the original series. This setup has sparked speculation among fans about whether Kaulo might shape the next chapter of the story.
Ferguson also spoke about her on-screen dynamic with Duke, played by Barry Keoghan. She talked about their layered relationship, calling Duke unpredictable and emotionally volatile. “Kaulo is the only person who can say, ‘Stop,’ and he listens,” she said, describing their bond as a form of “tough love.”
