Avengers: Doomsday‘s primary setting has reportedly been revealed, as per a rumor. Plot details for the upcoming film, releasing later this year, are being kept under wraps. Nonetheless, rumors and leaks have been surfacing, giving insights into the movie’s possible story. While the confirmed cast is already stacked, reports suggest that there are more unannounced members appearing in the film.
Avengers: Doomsday rumored to be set in Latveria
According to a new rumor from noted scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, Avengers: Doomsday will primarily take place in Latveria. They wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “A lot of Avengers Doomsday is set on Latveria.”
In both the comics and associated media, Latveria is the home of Doctor Doom, who is also the nation’s monarch. The capital and largest city is Doomstadt, which houses Doom’s personal residence and base of operations, Castle Doom. The country borders Symkaria, which is home to Silver Sable, a character that frequently appears in Spider-Man comics.
Latveria’s existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first briefly teased in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The name appears on a plaque next to an empty chair in Sue Storm’s Future Foundation conference, shown in the film’s opening scenes.
Recent reports suggest that Avengers: Doomsday might be one of Marvel’s best films, with reviews praising the film’s action sequences. Jeff Sneider shared on The Hot Mic podcast that the buzz surrounding the film was good and that fans would like it.
Meanwhile, MyTimeToShineHello shared on X that the upcoming MCU movie “might be the most epic movie OF ALL TIME.” They also showered considerable praise on the opening sequence, claiming it surpassed previous Avengers films while also noting that the final battle was “INSANE.”
The scooper recently reported that Marvel Studios was reportedly planning to include more action sequences in the movie beyond what’s already present.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, arrives a year later on December 17, 2027.
Anthony and Joe Russo directed Doomsday and will also helm Secret Wars. The pair also co-produce both films with Marvel Studios through their production company, AGBO.
