Donald Trump cracked Greenland joke over dinner, claims report
A new report from The Washington Post has claimed that President Donald Trump allegedly made a joke about buying Greenland during a Black-Tie dinner at the Alfalfa Club on Saturday night.
Despite the turmoil going on around Greenland, President Donald Trump reportedly did not hold back on his joke about the region during his dinner appearance. He reportedly ridiculed his political opponents, joked about an imminent invasion of Greenland, and suggested that he might sue his newly appointed Federal Reserve chairman.
While speaking in the room, which also consisted of the likes of Jamie Dimon and Jerome H. Powell, Trump allegedly said, “So many people in the room I hate. Most of you I like,” according to an attendee. “Who in the hell thought this was going to happen?”
He reportedly went on to make a joke about Greenland by claiming that he needed to cut his speech short because he had to watch the invasion of Greenland. Right after, he conceded that he was joking about invading Greenland. But his joke reportedly did not end there.
“We’re not going to invade Greenland. We’re going to buy it,” Trump said, according to an observer, “It’s never been my intention to make Greenland the 51st state. I want to make Canada the 51st state. Greenland will be the 52nd state. Venezuela can be 53rd.”
The President made many other controversial points, according to the reports.
Of course, not all information from the dinner is out as the evening was closed to the media.
Reports further add that Donald Trump boarded Air Force One to fly to Palm Beach and spoke extensively with reporters during the flight.
