Democrats’ Donald Trump-Chiefs ‘Washed’ Clip Sparks Backlash Online

The Democrats‘ official X account has faced massive backlash after the account posted a video that took a shot at Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce after his team lost 20-10 to the Texans on Sunday Night Football. Many hit out at the Democrats because Taylor Swift, Travis’s fiancée, was the biggest name to endorse Kamal Harris during the previous election.

Democrats face backlash after Donald Trump-Chiefs video

The Chiefs lost to the Texans 20-10 on Sunday Night Football. This is a loss that would seriously impact the season for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs reached the Super Bowl last year, but as things stand, they could be eliminated from NFL playoff contention on Sunday.

Travis Kelce, unlike his usual form, had a tough night, where he had one catch for eight yards on five targets. Kelce’s fourth-quarter drop led to his team ultimately losing.

In a surprising move, the official X account of the Democrats posted clips from the game along with a clip of President Donald Trump thrown into the mix. The caption for the post read, “Washed.”

Considering Taylor Swift was the most famous person to endorse Kamala Harris during her race against Donald Trump, Many users responded to this post.

“Making fun of Travis Kelce when his fiancé is your biggest celebrity endorsement is an… interesting strategy,” one user wrote, while another added, “Still don’t know how sports work?” Yet another user wrote, “So… The Democrats hate Kansas City? Confused by this.”

It seems that with this tweet, the Democrats’ account has both created confusion and invited backlash.

While the Chiefs are owned by the Hunt family, which has been a long supporter of the Republican Party, the family has maintained that political stance for years. Several Chiefs players, like Patrick Mahomes, have shown their support for Trump, and their comments have reflected that. However, Kelce has never endorsed the current President, and he has also never endorsed his party.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are 6-7 going into week 15. The next match would be crucial for the side.
