Skrillex Talks Flume Collaboration, 2014 Australian Return

Dubstep superstar Skrillex featured on Triple J radio on Tuesday afternoon and talked more about an upcoming collaboration with rising home grown DJ/producer Flume and a 2014 return Down Under.

We learnt last December that the pair had been doing some recording together with Skrillex saying at the time, “Flume is coming in to the studio tomorrow… I’ll be seeing him tomorrow, so maybe we’ll make something, who knows.”

Appearing on Triple J’s drive program, Skrillex discussed his growing partnership with the young Aussie producer.

“I remember meeting Harley for the first time in Miami over a year ago and I had the flume record already and I was such a big fan of his,” he said.

“It was when he was starting to bubble in the US so we were friends before all that stuff and it kind of (recording) naturally happened.”

The two apparently spent some more time working on a collaboration during a Skrillex Australian visit earlier this year.

“We did a record when I was in Australia, we did a couple actually.”

“A lot of them are finished, and you’ll see that stuff surface when the time is right. I was in there with Emoh Instead as Harley so it will be a [Emoh/Flume side project] What So Not and Skrillex track. We did some back to back sets in Australia and we just have fun playing and making music together. It just kind of naturally happened.”

Recently in Australia for a NYE set at the Shore Thing festival on Bondi Beach, Skrillex says he’s heading back to Australia at some point this year.

“I can’t announce it yet because it’s not announced, but I’ll be coming back this year and doing it proper for sure.”

Determining when for the 26-year-old could be prove to be impossible task at this point, however Australia’s No.1 winter festival- Splendour In The Grass– is set to announce its 2014 lineup in the near future and has already featured a ton of impressive international guests among the many early rumours

Skrillex released a surprise new album last week, Recess, via his online gaming app Alien Ride.
