Dubstep figurehead Skream has released a remix of The Smiths’ classic track ‘This Charming Man’ and… wow. This is certainly one of the worst Christmas presents we’ve received.
The British producer put the song onto SoundCloud accompanied by the message: “Did this yesterday…..This ones plagued with tags for the thieves… This isn’t a dance track nor really a electronic track…. Just a piece of music I’m really happy with. Enjoy :-)”. Unfortunately, this is an idea that would’ve been better off staying in Skream’s ol’ brainbox, rather than making its way onto the internet.
Slapping an echo on Morrissey’s quivering falsetto and laying it against a backdrop of minimalist piano music does not make for a good remix. In fact, it makes for a completely migraine-inducing one.
