Listen: HAIM and M83 Team Up For ‘Holes in the Sky’

Another day, another star-studded soundtrack for yet another movie adaptation. The latest is a collaborative effort between the Haim sisters and M83 for the film Insurgent, the March 20th sequel to last year’s Divergent. Did anybody see that flick? I remember mild temptation to check it out, but much like this song, it seemed falsely inflated by overly dramatic nothingness.

The two musical forces have teamed up for “Holes in the Sky,” a song soaked in violins, delicate piano and Jesus Christ the yawns… this is the product of a dream-team collaborative effort? Welcome to beautiful boredom, ladies and gentlemen – if you have trouble with the clip below, listen here

“We’ve been fans of Anthony Gonzalez and M83 for a long long time so when he reached out to have us sing on the song we were ecstatic,” HAIM told MTV News in a statement. “We had the best time in the studio with him, it all happened so fast and was so easy and natural. We are so excited to be a part of this movie.”

The full tracklist for the Insurgent soundtrack has yet to be announced. Lykke Li, Woodkid, and Anna Calvi are reportedly involved. Previously, the Divergent soundtrack featured collaborations between Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala, A$AP Rocky and Gesaffelstein and Chance the Rapper, Pia Mia, and Clams Casino, M83’s new song “I Need You”, and new music from Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Snow Patrol and others.
