GTA V DLC Expansions: A Look at What We Want and What We’ll Probably Get

Franklin

The problem? The game ends. At which point, Trevor and  Michael — outside of remaining side missions and calling other characters to “hang out” — become lifeless puppets. Meanwhile, Franklin handily steps into his role as GTA’s chosen hero; always well-meaning and forever brave, kindly beckoning the player to step into his shoes. He owns his own auto body shop, has purchased the local cab company, and swings by the Los Santos Country Club for a shot at the links. Just a law abiding citizen with $17 million in his pocket.

In reality, I suspect Rockstar may have backed itself into a corner, and my fear is that Franklin is the only way out. Think about it — Trevor and Michael pretty much still hate each other. Trevor feels betrayed, the resulting behavior of which Michael interprets as petty bitterness, going on insanity. They’re unlikely to help each other for any reason, and on top of that, each is easily set for life financially, with Trevor pleased to be working with Ron again and Michael making movies. What, if anything, could possibly bring them back? I think the answer is obvious.

Franklin is going to get himself into trouble. I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but it’s going to happen. And when it does, Michael and Franklin will feel obligated to help the only real friend either of them has ever had. It’s a nice sentiment — I just don’t want to give them the satisfaction of saving me.
