It looks like the tried and true will script the next Star Trek movie. Crave’s Collider website Tuesday reported Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are in negotiations with Paramount to write Star Trek 3.
Kurtzman and Orci wrote the first two movies of the Star Trek reboot, with Damon Lindelof, who is not coming back for thirds, which made $386 and $451 million respectively.
J.J. Abrams is negotiating with Paramount to produce, but not direct the third movie.
Karl Urban said in an interview published on Monday he hopes the writers will write an original tale and not rely on past Star Trek mythology. (Looking at you, Khan.)
There’s no release date yet, but as Collider points out, Paramount is not likely to squander a 50th anniversary in 2016.
