FormBox is a Desktop Vacuum Former That Lets You Make Your Own Product Line

FormBox is a brand new, low-cost desktop vacuum former that lets you make molds using practically any material you can get your hands on.

The compact vacuum former allows you to select a material you want to use to create your mold, before placing the 3D template you wish to use onto the FormBox bed. The FormBox’s heater then warms up the material, before pulling it over the template in order to make a 3D form. You can then use that mold to create multiple designs of your design, effectively starting your own production line from the comfort of your own home. The vacuuming is performed by way of connecting the FormBox to your vacuum cleaner, effectively providing an extra use for your Dyson outside of sucking up dust.

Makyu Industries, the company behind the FormBox, call it “a factory that fits on your tabletop,” with it able to make professional grade products with very little effort. There’s a wealth of molds that can be created using the FormBox, from custom chocolate messages…

…through to plant pots…

…and even decorative lights:

The FormBox can currently be pre-ordered by pledging $349 (roughly £250/ €310), with it including 30 sheets of material for forming and 500g of casting material, along with its universal vacuum connector. Backers are expected to receive the product in May 2017.
