The Soundwave music festival reeled off another early ‘First Wave’ announcement on Thursday night, naming metal group Monuments as the fourth band added to the exclusive lineup announcement.
Monuments join Coldrain!, Patent Pending and Butcher Babies as the first four bands revealed in the exclusive collaboration between Soundwave and MusicFeeds.com.au coming each weeknight from August 4-8.
The British progressive metal five-piece have two full-length albums under their belts- 2012’s Gnosis and last year’s The Amanuensis– and offer an intelligent take on heavy music.
“Music is music,” says guitarist John Browne. “It has the same 12 notes as any other music.”
“The only difference is the way it’s expressed, so we use pretty silly words to try and explain the sound,” adding his definition of the Monuments sound as progressive rock “with a huge dose of groove.”
