Marvel Comics Relaunches This Fall

Ever since DC’s New 52 relaunch and reboot, Marvel has made annual relaunches of its own. First in 2012 with Marvel NOW, and again the following year with All-New Marvel NOW.

This fall, Marvel is set for perhaps its biggest relaunch to date. All-New, All-Different Marvel will relaunch the entire line of Marvel’s superhero comics with brand new series, new creative teams and even new versions of Spider-Man and Hulk whom we haven’t seen before.

“The all-new Hulk…this character is certain to cause debate,” explained Marvel Editor-in-chief Axel Alonso while speaking to Mashable. “The same people who went crazy with female Thor will have a field day with this one.”

Alonso also said that Wolverine will be back in the Marvel Universe barely a year after his so-called death. But he hinted that there may be a new Wolverine as well.

“Who is Wolverine? You’ll have to read and find out,” teased Alonso.

The latest Marvel relaunch is coming out of the Secret Wars crossover event that has currently engulfed all of Marvel’s titles. And this was all planned years in advance, according to Alonso.

“We’ve been planning it for years,” said Alonso. “We realized that [Secret Wars] would be a game-changing moment that would allow us to create a big white canvas. It’s an unprecedented chance for us to tell new stories across all titles with new No. 1s.”

Marvel plans include 55 to 60 titles that will be released over a three to four month period beginning this fall. Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Mark Waid, Dan Slott, Charles Soule, G. Willow Wilson, and Jeff Lemire will be writing comics for the All-New, All-Different Marvel relaunch, but creative teams were not included in the announcement.

The problem with relaunching so many times is that there will eventually be declining returns. How many times can Marvel pull off this trick before comic fans reject it? Let us know in the comment section below!
