AEW Rampage Results (4/29/22)

AEW Rampage delivered a star-studded episode on April 29.

In a huge match, the ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe will take on Trent Beretta in a championship bout between the two superstars. Elsewhere, Darby Allin and Swerve Strickland will collide in an Owen Hart Foundation Tournament qualifying match.

Finally, Keith Lee and Colten Gunn will go head-to-head, while the trios debut of Jade Cargill, Kiera Hogan, and Red Velvet take on the group of Willow, Skye Blue, and Trish Adora. Hook will also go up against Danhausen in a one-on-one match.

The results are as follows:

Match 1 – Darby Allin def. Swerve Strickland – Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Qualifying Match

As things began to wind down, Swerve attempted to go for a finishing blow by suplexing Allin, but it wasn’t enough.

Finally, Allin got the pair back into the ring and attack Strickland’s leg, which had been an issue for him all night. After throwing him down to the floor after attacking the leg again, Allin finally pinned him for the win.

Match 2 -The Baddies (Jade Cargill, Kiera Hogan, and Red Velvet) def. Willow Nightingale, Skye Blue, and Trish Adora

In a relatively quick match, the debut trios group took down their opponents after Cargill dispatched Adora with a pump kick before ending things with the Jaded.

Match 3 – Keith Lee def. Colten Gunn

In another fairly short match, Lee continued to display his usual level of dominance in the wrestling ring. Despite Gunn getting in some early hits, it was Lee who began to grow more momentum as the match went on. Towards the end, he did more than enough to win, including countering a late Colt 45 attempt, picking up Gunn and dropping him down into the mat before pinning him in a vicious manner for the win.

Danhausen came down to the ring and called out HOOK, only for Mark Sterling and Tony Nese to blindside both men in an ambush after HOOK had come out ready to fight. Unfortunately for Nese, things didn’t go as planned, as HOOK laid out both Nese and Sterling, before Danhausen offered him a handshake as the crowd began to chant “HOOKhausen.” However, HOOK didn’t take the handshake, and simply got in the face of Danhausen before walking away.

Match 4 – Samoa Joe (c) def. Trent Beretta – ROH World TV Championship

In a brutal match to close out the night, it was Joe who got the better of Beretta late. After Joe got him in position to hit a Muscle Buster, Beretta quickly flipped the pair, rolling up Joe before Joe kicked out of the quick pin attempt.

Afterward, Beretta tried to hit a running splash on Joe, but was caught in mid-air and slammed down to the mat. From there, Joe quickly applied his signature chokehold and Beretta couldn’t do anything, with Joe coming out on top as Beretta was knocked out.
