Bryan Danielson Re-Enacts Infamous Tie Choke With Justin Roberts, Makes Post-Show Speech After 11/3 AEW Dynamite

Bryan Danielson had a little fun after AEW Dynamite went off of the air, but he also paid tribute to two of his good friends before the night was over.

Bryan Danielson closed the broadcast portion of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite taping by facing off with Miro, his new opponent at next Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view. Danielson stuck around after the show went off the air, and he ultimately re-enacted the “tie choke” that got him fired by WWE in 2010.

Danielson was part of the Nexus debut on the June 7, 2010 episode of WWE RAW, but the move ultimately got him fired by the company. Danielson was re-hired a short time later, but the move has become infamous and meme’d countless times. Danielson had some fun and paid “tribute” to the incident, having Roberts re-create the move for the Kansas City fans before telling the crowd Roberts was a great announcer.

Bryan Danielson then took a more serious tone and shared some sentimental thoughts about the late Brodie Lee and Jon Moxley, both very good friends of his.

“So let me just talk about two of my really good friends. One I haven’t really had a chance to talk about publicly much. The last text I sent to Brodie, was this — I said, ‘Hey man, how’s life?’ And you know what he said? He texted me back and said, ‘It’s fuckin’ awesome.’

“And another guy I texted was the second guy I mentioned, and I might not be here if it were not for him because I watched an AEW show and I saw all of these men and women doing these incredible things and I didn’t know if I could keep up. I said that to Moxley, and do you know what he said? He said, ‘You’re Bryan fuckin’ Danielson, you’re the best in the world.’ He said, ‘I’m not telling you that you should come here, but don’t for a goddamned second think that you can’t. So Jon, get better soon, we miss you and we love you.”

On Tuesday, Tony Khan announced that Jon Moxley will be entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program and will be away from AEW for an undetermined amount of time. Miro replaced Moxley in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament and will face Danielson at Full Gear for a future AEW World Championship opportunity.
