It’s a big week for Ruby Soho, as she has a big debut lined up while she looks to make more history in the ring.

Ruby Soho is one of the competitors remaining in the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, and she’ll have to beat Kris Statlander if she wants to advance to the finals at Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas. During a new interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Ruby shared her excitement for the big week ahead and said that she considers Statlander a friend, but she’s not looking past the past that she is a very formidable opponent.

“I am so excited, so excited. I know that this is going to be both a mentally and emotionally and physically taxing week going forward. I know that Kris Statlander is a friend of mine and I have faced her in a tournament match prior to this, and it was a match that really pushed me to my limit because Kris is absolutely one of the most talented women I’ve ever stepped into the ring with. But that being said, I feel like I’m facing a very different version than I faced in the TBS Tournament. Kris is one in the absolute best shape of her entire life since I’ve known her. And two, she’s into this mentality of being ‘More Than A Woman.’ She’s a warrior at this point,” Ruby explained, “she’s a lot more relentless, a lot more ruthless. And I have to take that into consideration going into this match with her, although I do consider her a friend.

“So I know that even in that match in the TBS tournament, that could have gone either way. I feel like I was able to get the win by the skin of my teeth. So I do know that I am facing one of the best women, not only just in our roster, but in this industry in general. And if I’m able to secure that win, I will know that I have earned my place in the finals. So I’m very much looking forward to that. And as much as I am dead set on being a part of the finals at Double or Nothing,” she noted, “I cannot by any means look past Kris Statlander.”

AEW has a full slate of events this week with Dynamite, Rampage, a FanFest and Double Or Nothing planned, but several members of the AEW roster will also be on the new season of Carpool Karaoke: The Series on Apple TV+. Ruby will be riding with MJF and Powerhouse Hobbs, while the other car features CM Punk, Brian Danielson, Britt Baker and Christian Cage. Ruby said seeing the car assignments for the first time was surprising, but it was fun learning how much overlap there actually was between their favorite musical genres.

“When I saw that list of people, at first I was I was shocked for sure. I was very shocked because I was like, we could not possibly be more different between the three of us. But it is very, very interesting because we definitely all three have very different tastes in music,” she stated. “[and] it’s also very surprising to see what songs each other knew from our preferred genre of music.

“I did learn even though Max is a horrible person, he has a pretty good voice. Usually I hate it when I hear his voice in general, but when he’s singing, he’s not so bad. It’s when he opens his mouth any other time. That’s the worst. So, yeah, it was an interesting car ride, to say the least. But I think it’s definitely a different vibe in that car than it was, I believe in the other car with CM Punk, Brian Danielson, Britt Baker and Christian Cage. So it’s definitely it’s a very contrasting groups, but very, very fun nonetheless.”

Ruby Soho will appear on the new season of Carpool Karaoke: The Series on Apple TV+ when it premieres on Friday, May 27. Ruby will also face off against Kris Statlander on the May 27 episode of AEW Rampage in an Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament semifinals match; the winner will move on to face either Britt Baker D.M.D. or Toni Storm at AEW Double Or Nothing on Sunday, May 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
