Doctor Who Returns To San Diego Comic-Con International

Last year, Doctor Who was conspicuously absent from Comic-Con International. But this year, it’s the first TV show to confirm its return appearance.

BBC has announced that Doctor Who will once again have a panel in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center during Comic-Con International. Jenna Coleman returns for her second Comic-Con alongside current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, who will be making his first Comic-Con appearance.

“Tales of San Diego Comic-Con are told in awe on every set around the known fantasy/sci-fi production world,” said Capaldi in a brief statement with the announcement. “It’s become a fabled kingdom. One I am thrilled to find myself heading for. And to appear in the legendary Hall H, is a further twist to the cosplay and comic madness I may never recover from.”

Surprisingly, Capaldi will be accompanied by Michelle Gomez, the latest performer to play the Doctor’s nemesis, the Master. But now that she’s female, the Master goes by “Missy.”

Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat will also join the panel alongside his fellow executive producer, Brian Minchin. A moderator for the panel was not announced.

BBC and BBC America have Doctor Who Season 9 set to debut this fall with a two part episode that brings Gomez back as Missy despite her apparent death in the season 8 finale.
